I'd written 'Turn On You Heels' for a friend who was experiencing some intense and prolonged spells of emotional abuse and gaslighting by her partner. She was finding it hard to extract herself from the situation and this song was written as a bit of a message to try and give her a bit of strength to stay clear of him and what he was putting her through. I was approached by a local domestic violence service, Calan DVS who told me they had connected with the song and wanted to use it to help get the message out about the support that is out there for sufferers of domestic violence.

To think that an incredible charity such as Calan have heard the song and that others have been able to identify with it's message is utterly amazing and an absolute honour and any good that it can do in giving others some support no matter how small is a massive thing for me.

You don't need to suffer in silence - there are teams of people on your side who will fight for you. Calan:
Calan DVS is a domestic abuse service based across Bridgend, Neath and Powys, that supports individuals who have witnessed, experienced or perpetrated domestic abuse. Calan DVS offers support in the community, refuge for women and children fleeing domestic abuse, children’s services from the age of 4, as well as a programme for the alleged perpetrators. Support is delivered on both a one to one basis in addition to support groups. During January February and March of this year 767 people accessed the assessment service alone, these figure show the importance of the work being provided by Calan DVS.
